catering cook
At Common Roots we serve good food made from scratch using as many local, organic, and fair-trade ingredients as possible (85% of all our purchases since opening). We are a from-scratch kitchen and bakery, full-service caterer, and community meeting place.
We are now hiring a catering cook. The successful candidate will work as part of our kitchen team to execute catering events, from boxed lunches to upscale off-site meals. This is primarily a cooking position, but will also include work on ongoing catering menu creation, developing and executing standards for presentation, and some staff supervision for larger catering events.
Depending on the week-to-week volume of catering business, the successful candidate will also work a changing number of hours per week doing non-catering kitchen work.
This is a 20-40 hour per week position.
Qualifications:
-3+ years professional cooking experience
-Flexible availability
-A collaborative work style
-Ability to think quickly and creatively on one's feet
-Strong communication skills
-Strong commitment to support local organic farmers, socially responsible business practices, and environmental sustainability
-Experience with catering highly preferred.
